This is just one example of how Cross media convergence can boost profit.
We will be looking at taking ideas from already successful real media texts such as the Batman franchise and trying to relate it to our own brand. We can get our brand out there to the public in a number of different ways: - Merchandise - Costumes - Video Games - Sequel - Clothing (Halloween costumes) - Iphone Apps - Websites - Posters (on bus stops, billboards etc.) - Billboards |

An example of the continuity that is visible throughout all media platforms. The Star Wars trilogy box set is just one example of many how Star Wars have maximised their profits. The Darth Vader character is a key icon of Star Wars, and they have used this to their advantage making him on the front cover instantly lets the buyer acknowledge what film it is.
|
This is another excellent example of the continuity throughout their products. The typography on all the DVD cases are all the same, this is very important in making sure that specific house style is unique and relevant to all the Star Wars merchandise.
What you will be able to notice if you scroll up to look at the posters. Each DVD case has the followed the same colour scheme, and images of the specific characters as the corresponding poster does. This again reinforces their specific house style that Star Wars has followed. |

Here is another perfect example of the continuity present throughout different media platforms. Star Wars has released a variety of different videos games since the many films were created. These include games on a large number of platforms, PC, Xbox, Playstation, Wii, Nintendo etc. All of which use the same house style as the films. The Lego game is an excellent use of cross media convergence, as it has not only used different media platforms to promote the film, but it has also merged the idea of the film with another very successful product.

Font: Both the font throughout our own teaser trailer and our own poster is consistent. We used examples of different real media texts such as Paranormal Activity and Insidious to get a better understanding and knowledge of how using the same typography is so important in maintaining a consistent brand identity. We have thus used the same font throughout our products to make our brand identity stronger, and in the attempt to make this font relate able to our products, for example if someone sees this font but doesn't see anything else they instantly link it to our brand.
Colour Scheme: We have used the same consistent colour scheme throughout our trailer and poster, we have done this to keep a consistent house style throughout our products. We have taken examples form real media texts and followed these conventions and adapted them to our own products, for example the Paranormal Activity has a consistent colour scheme which flows across their products and their ancillary texts, this creates and reinforces a strong brand identity, hence why we have followed it in our trailer and poster. In our trailer and poster we have followed the low key lighting and blue mist colour scheme, this not only creates a mysterious/suspense tone to the trailer and our other products but also helps creates a consistent and dominant brand identity. |
Characters: It is vital to use the same characters throughout our products and ancillary texts in order to make the combination between the two effective. We have ensured that our final girl who is also the main character is the dominant image on our film poster and is the dominant character shown in our trailer. We have decided to show less of the other characters especially the antagonist as it creates mystery and doesn't give too much away about the film, thus meaning our audience will want to see the final film even more because they would want to find out who the antagonist is.

Here we have our film being advertised on a billboard in central London. We have used continuity here as we have used our logo for the movie with the same picture as our poster. This will help to keep the same colour scheme through the use of using the same poster. They aren't many features that are on the billboard as it won't be viewed for a sustained amount of time as most of the people who will see it will be driving past in cars
|
Here we have our film advertised at a bus stop in London. The picture that features on the bus stop has the same exact features that are on our poster. The poster of the film was used for the bus stop advertisement as it presents continuity and uses the same typography and colour scheme. It was key to add all those features including the billing block as it will list all the actors in the film even if the poster is likely to only be view for a short period of time.
